"We Were One in a Dream" reflects on a lengthy period of estrangement from my mother. The lack of shared experiences that mothers and daughters typically cherish deeply affected me. I began collecting forms and objects that reminded me of the many activities my mother introduced me to. What I once took for granted—like sewing and gardening—are now honored in this piece.
The bodice-like form, made of rose petals and beeswax with a crown-like fabric collar, pays tribute to those shared experiences. It is intertwined with two 1940s steel kitchen stools, one atop the other. As I stack one chair upon another, I create a monument to the layered legacies that shaped my path.
