I come from the south. To me, that means I absorbed the value that you do your best with what you have and don't get too big for your britches while you're at it. My mother carried my older sister and me away from the south when she realized the life she was raised to accept wasn't working for her. My memories from this time are vague; I recall the scenes from the back of the car. I have many memories while gazing from the backseat of a continual flow of stuff cast along the roadside; I thought, I can do something with that.
